SNIPPET ONE - PARANORMAL ROMANCE
Eliana’s eyes search the horizon behind me as she considers my proposal. I know that
it isn’t an easy decision for her to make, but I hope that she takes me up on my offer.
After all, it would certainly make me feel better to take revenge on those who’ve hurt
her.

“What do you think?” my voice cuts through an uncomfortable silence.

For a moment it looks as if she is too stunned to speak. Her hands are shaking, and I
think she is still coming to terms with everything that has happened. Even now, as the
weight of the world lies on her shoulders, she looks so beautiful. It doesn’t matter what
she decides, I will be at her side for all of it.

“I don’t have my wolf,” she answers quietly. “I could never be strong enough to go
against Ramus.”

Her eyes seem to glaze over as she thinks about it. I could never imagine what it would
be like to lose my wolf. My heart aches as I wonder what she must be going through.

“I know someone that can help,” I offer, although I am not exactly sure what the plan is
yet. “The Alpha King of the Moonfang Kingdom. He’ll help you.”

“What are you doing?” Ash asks almost immediately, the concern in his voice rattling
through my brain. “Think about this for a moment.”

It’s too late. I’ve already said it and she’s already heard me. A puzzled frown forms
across her face as she tries to piece it all together.

“How exactly do you know him?” she asks, her eyes fixated on me now as she
anticipates my answer. I can see it in her eyes. She’s wondering how well she knows
me.

“She’s losing her trust in you, you better say something,” Ash echoes through my mind.
“He’s an old friend of mine,” I babble. “We’ve known each other a while.”

Her eyes move over my face, scrutinizing every fine detail as she tried to decide
whether or not she believes me. It’s hard to keep my face looking normal and optimistic,
when inside I’m trying to think of what I’m going to do next.

“Here,” I say, attempting to get her eyes off me. “Take this, show it to them and he’ll
know that I sent you.”

Reaching into my pocket, I pull out an emblem. It’s one that I’ve carried with me always,
everybody knows it’s mine. Without giving her much time to think it over, I place the
emblem in her hand and close her fingers around it.

“This is weird,” Ash teases me. “She’s gonna think you’re so weird.”

“I don’t have time for this,” I respond, hoping it keeps Ash quiet for a few moments so
that I can think.

“Take this to the Moonstone Mansion,” I continue to explain. “It’s the residence of the
Alpha Prince.”

Eliana shakes her head, her face scrunching with concern.

“What if they don’t help me?” The panic in her voice is clear. “What if they turn me
away? They have no idea who I am, and without my wolf and title, I am nobody.”

There is no force on the planet that can stop the smile from forming on my face.

“Tell them that Alexander sent you. I promise you, they’ll grant you an audience with the
Alpha Prince. He’s a great guy, he’ll help you.”

A familiar crease forms at the corners of her eyes as she thinks it over and I can’t help
but admire her strength. Although she is hurting, and that is clear, she seems ready to
do something.

But the sinking of her shoulders says she’s had a change of heart.

“I don’t have anything to give him in return for his help,” she says quietly, shattering my
heart into a million pieces.

Placing a hand on her shoulder, I squeeze her gently, hoping it makes her trust me a
little more.

“Don’t worry, I am sure he’ll help you.” I’m hopeful that it will convince her, but she is not
one to take handouts and it might take a little more work.

“What makes you certain she is so dead set on revenge anyway?” Ash asks.

He’s right too. I haven’t considered that perhaps revenge is not what she wants. She’s
always found a way to surprise me, and today might not be any different. Thin strands
of hair that contour the edges of her face blow softly in the breeze as she mulls over all
her options.

“If revenge is not what you want, then I will still stay by your side and protect you,” I say,
as confidently as I can. But my voice quivers slightly. The thought of Ramus getting
away with it makes my blood boil. I wouldn’t mind ripping his head from his shoulders
myself, and urge I’ve had to fight for quite some time now.

“Are you sure he’ll help me?” Her voice pulls me from my thoughts and I look into her
eyes as she stares back into mine.

“I’m positive,” I answer with a weak smile.

A small nod of her head tells me that she’s accepted my offer, causing a wave of relief
to wash over me. I really had no other plan, and even this plan isn’t very well thought
through.

But there’s no time to think. I need to get going, and I need to move fast. We can’t wait
in this clearing forever, hoping a miracle will happen. We need to take action.
“Where are you going?”

I’m on my feet and already heading back into the forest. So deep in thought, I’d simply
gotten up and started walking away. Clearly, the stress of it all is getting to me too. It
makes me feel foolish.

“I can’t go with you,” I explain, searching for a good enough reason to give her.
